Ingredients

  • 400g spaghetti
  • 4 garlic cloves, thinly sliced
  • 1/2 cup extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • Salt, to taste
  • Fresh parsley, chopped, for garnish
  • Grated Parmesan cheese, for serving (optional)

Preparation Steps

  1. Cook the spaghetti: Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the spaghetti and cook until al dente according to package instructions. Reserve about 1 cup of the pasta water, then drain the pasta.
  2. Prepare the garlic oil: In a large skillet over medium heat, combine the olive oil and sliced garlic. Cook gently until the garlic turns golden brown, about 2-3 minutes, being careful not to burn it.
  3. Add red pepper flakes: If using, add red pepper flakes to the garlic oil, stirring for about 30 seconds to release their flavor.
